Daniel Berkowitz is the Head Immigration Attorney dedicated exclusively to protecting the rights of immigrants and their families. His practice focuses on complex immigration matters, with particular emphasis on removal defense, ICE detention and bond proceedings, asylum, and federal litigation.
Mr. Berkowitz represents individuals in removal proceedings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), as well as applicants and petitioners before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). He represents clients facing some of the most consequential immigration proceedings, including those seeking asylum and other humanitarian protection, cancellation of removal, family-based immigration benefits, and other forms of relief from removal.
A significant focus of Mr. Berkowitz’s practice is the representation of individuals detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He handles immigration bond proceedings and advocates aggressively for the release of detained clients when legally available. When detention cannot be adequately addressed through the immigration court process, his practice also includes federal habeas corpus litigation, including challenges to unlawful or prolonged immigration detention.
Mr. Berkowitz earned his J.D. Magna Cum Laude from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Old Westbury with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Before entering the legal profession, he worked at one of New York’s largest orthopedic surgical practices. That experience gave him a unique understanding of the importance of careful preparation, attention to detail, and compassionate advocacy qualities that continue to define his approach to immigration representation.
Born and raised in New York, Mr. Berkowitz is committed to providing his clients with sophisticated, individualized representation while treating each person and family with the dignity and respect they deserve.
